Ashe

A princess who had lost everything.
Ashe, the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Dalmasca, lost everything almost immediatly after getting married to her love, Rasler. Rasler went into war when Archadia attacked Dalmasca and things did not turn out well. The war was lost and the kingdom was captured. Ashe staged her own death and fled, joining a resistance group in hopes that she could take her kingdom back as the rightful heir.

A boy who sees freedom in the skies.
Vaan lost both of his parents and his only brother in the war. Since then he has lived in the streets of Rabanastre with the other orphans, including his best friend, Penelo. Vaan spends his days doing odd jobs for a merchant named Migel in order to make enough money to survive. He dreams of one day becoming a sky pirate.

Vaan's Friend.
Vaan's best friend, who cares about him as much as a sibiling would. She lost her parents in the war as well, and the two of them help each other and the other orphans that lost their parents in the brutal war. Penelo thinks of Vaan asthe leader of the small group of orphans andlooks up to him. She dreams that they can all someday live peacefully as a family.

A dashing sky pirate.
Balthier is an slightly arrogant man who happens to have a great deal of charm and a quite mysterious past. Not only that, but he happens to be an infamous sky pirate that seems to have large bounties on his head. Ifthat all isn't enough, there is another oddity. Balthier travels with a Viera [A race that usually does not associate with humans] by the name of Fran. The two search Ivalice for treasures together.

A master of weapons.
Balthier's loyal sky pirate partner. Fran travels with him all over the world, helping him seek out riches. Fran is a Viera and has a strong sense for Mist. She also is great with just about any type of weapon. It is unknownwhy she left the forest, the place where the Viera dwell away from other races of peoples.

A loyal knight branded as a traitor.
Basch is the former Captain of the Order of Knights who has been accused of assassinating the King of Dalmasca, Raminas. Not only that, but Vaan believes that Basch also killed his only brother, Reks. Is this true? Basch claims he did not do any of that, but there is no proof to prove his innocence.
